Logistics
Lanarkshire and logistics go hand in hand; given the central
location and connectivity to the rest of Scotland, it is no
surprise to find that the region has the highest number of
companies involved in the logistics sector in Scotland,
contributing over £1,100m to Lanarkshire’s economy.
Next day pallet distribution companies such as Dalkeith
have been established in Lanarkshire for over 60 years and
have continued to thrive. The region’s central location
has also enabled companies like Stanford Logistics to
expand to 300,000 square feet of warehousing and yard
space in Hamilton, Blantyre and East Kilbride and even
major brands such as the Co-op supermarket have set up
their Scottish distribution centre here.
Official logistics provider to Glasgow 2014, DB
Schenker, also operates Scotland’s first Eurofreight
Terminal, providing rail cargo services throughout the
UK and Europe so businesses can reduce their carbon
footprint while delivering goods through Lanarkshire and
remain competitive.
