Responsible for the licensing and
registration of various business premises
and activities. This is to ensure that
venues and licensed activities are
operated safely and without disturbance
to those within the local community.
Licences are required for: public
entertainment in pubs, clubs, village
halls; public sports entertainment
licensing; outdoor entertainment such
as concerts, fétes, dances, cinemas,
theatres, boxing, wrestling, judo and
similar sports where these are to be
performed in a contest, exhibition or
display, ice or roller skating where
music forms a substantial part of the
entertainment; Hackney Carriages (taxis),
private hire vehicles; street collections;
amusements with prizes, lotteries,
gambling premises, house-to-house
collections and late night refreshments.
