The borough hosts a number of small
business centres supplying small business
workspace and starter units. These include
those at the Southborough Centre, Monson
Business Centre and the Pantiles Chambers.
Other micro business units vary in size
and nature and are located in many parts
of the borough including town centres,
industrial estates and on farms.
Rural Excellence
Settlements in the rural areas of the
borough are host to a large number of
small and medium sized businesses.
Local people are highly educated
compared to other areas of the South
East. Over one third of residents (41%)
have attained NVQ4+ level or equivalent
qualifications, in comparison with 36.8%
for the South East. Residents' occupations
broadly reflect the national and regional
average, although with a particularly
high concentration in ‘professional and
technical’ areas (17.2% of local residents).
Looking to the future, 73% of school
pupils attain 5+ GCSEs at grade A-C.
