| Local Development & Regeneration Economic renaissance for Bolton With 2,500 jobs already delivered, BoltonÕs regeneration schedule is bringing the town renewed investment for business as well as opportunities for its residents. B olton is one of the largest towns in England and it is on the cusp of an economic renaissance which will see the town start to reclaim its position as one of the Manchester city regionÕs economic leaders. Bolton is already the fifth largest employment centre in the Northwest, an important retail destination, home of the UKÕs fastest growing university, Bolton University, and a ŌManchester: Knowledge CapitalÕ core partner. The town currently has development opportunities amounting to 55 hectares and this regeneration, and development of these sites, will deliver lasting benefits to the town. The regeneration of Bolton will attract over £1bn in public and private sector investment, as well as creating up to 20,000 jobs. New developments such as the Bolton Innovation Zone (BIZ) and Church Wharf will deliver a contemporary Cultural Quarter including a Community Arts Centre, improved leisure facilities such as a new cinema, modern office space, town centre living and public spaces. Bolton Council will also ensure that all new developments will sit tastefully alongside the townÕs traditional buildings, meaning that the architectural history of the area will be respected. 2,500 jobs are already being delivered, with more to be created through the redevelopment of specific areas in the town centre. Complementing the redevelopment of the town centre is the M61 growth corridor and the Economic Development Zone, which will provide a full range of business opportunities and make Bolton a prime choice for investors.
