The Manchester City Region (MCR) has a unique combination of opportunity and need. Its size and growth potential make it the natural capital of a rejuvenated North, and the Review Ð the first of its kind in the UK Ð is a key step towards being able to make the most of those opportunities.

anchester Enterprises, the cityÕs economic development agency, has initiated the Manchester Independent Economic Review (MIER), led by a commission of prominent economists and business leaders. The Review will provide a rigorous, independent economic assessment of the city region and has a responsibility for producing high quality evidence-based research to inform decision-makers in Manchester. 
With 25% of the northern economy MCR is key in driving forward the economy of the North; MCR is the largest city region outside of London with a 3.2 million pool of talented labour and five million people living within an hours drive of the City. Today MCR contributes over
