| Investment and Regeneration Dream becomes reality St.Helens is set to feature a spectacular new landmark artwork to rival the Angel of the North. Dream, part of The Big Art Project, takes the form of the head of a girl with eyes closed, seemingly in a dream-like state. The 20-metre high sculpture by internationally-renowned artist Jaume Plensa is to be sited on top of the former Sutton Manor Colliery, overlooking the M62. The work is intended to become a gateway icon for both Merseyside and Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northwest, and will symbolise the remarkable regeneration of the whole region. The Big Art Project seeks to inspire and create new works of public art commissioned by communities, as well as debating the importance of art in the built environment. St.Helens is one of only seven sites selected throughout the UK from over 1,400 UK-wide public nominations in what has been in effect the UKÕs largest ever public art commissioning scheme.
