PeelÕs vision is to establish the River Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal corridor as a key source of new jobs, investment, development and environmental improvements between the regions of Liverpool and Manchester. Wirral Waters and Liverpool Waters will form the gateway to this corridor. The vision for Wirral Waters is to create a mixed-use, predominantly of¥ces and residential, high rise development within the East Float area of Birkenhead Docks, centred on Vittoria Wharf which will consist of magni¥cent buildings cascading down in height to the north and south. It will also include a major high quality development at the former Bidston Dock to create a new retail and leisure destination for Wirral. The vision for Liverpool Waters is to create a new sector of the central city area in a prime waterfront location within walking distance of the commercial core. In regenerating this part of the City, a key part of this vision will be to build upon the strong character of Liverpool and the heritage assets of its World Heritage Site. The development will have strong connections with the existing commercial, retail and leisure cores.
