Business Development in Shepway
Shepway offers a wide range of high quality support for
businesses across the district.
Shepway District Council operates
a commercial property database for
firms looking to relocate within the
district and gives guidance through
the planning process. It also offers
a signposting service to advisors
and grant providers.
Grants: New and existing Shepway
businesses are eligible to apply for
government grants worth up to £2
million. There are two main grants,
the Grant for Research and
Development and the grants for
Selective Finance for Investment
in England (SFIE).
The district has three main
business parks:
Shearway Business Park is located
at Junction 13 of the M20 and the
Channel Tunnel terminal. With 25
hectares allocated for industrial
and commercial development this
is a key strategic employment site
in East Kent. The first phase of 11.6
hectares, owned by SEEDA (South
East England Development Agency)
has been serviced with new drainage,
roads and structural landscaping.
Its great location has attracted a mix
of owner occupation and speculative
development, including the Home
Office and the Folkestone Enterprise

Cheriton Parc, next to Junction
12 of the M20 and overlooking the
Channel Tunnel terminal has 4.2
hectares allocated for office use.
Area A has development land and
a 24,000 sq ft Norman Grimshaw

B has planning permission for
a hotel and two office buildings.

and two miles from Junction 11 of the
