KentÕs position between London and mainland Europe makes it an ideal place to do business, and with high-speed rail due to open in December the pace is about to increase. 

The Sheppey Crossing opened in July 2006 and links
the Isle of Sheppey with mainland Kent via the A249
from the M2. The £100m crossing carries an estimated

The Port of Sheerness is a deepwater port at the
confluence of the River Medway that specialises in
fresh produce, new vehicles and forest products.

Over 14 million passengers pass through
Dover Port every year. Four ferry operators
connect England with Calais, Boulogne and

Folkestone Harbour is the centre of
the major redevelopment of the historic
old town. High-speed rail arrives in
December 2009 with the Creative
Quarter development alone set to bring
1,000 jobs. The Quarterhouse arts and
entertainment venue opened in March.
