The potential for an environmental technology park, including facilities for low/zero carbon energy generation is also being explored and will be guided by the outcomes of the Kent Thameside Eco-Study. Dartford Town Centre New developments are expected to revitalise and reinvigorate Dartford Town Centre, building on the Prospect Place development on the north side of the town. There are proposals for new retail, hotel and residential developments in the centre of the town along with proposals for an anchor store to the south that will be at the centre of the regeneration of Lowfield Street. A Townscape Heritage Initiative scheme has been established to improve shop fronts and buildings in the conservation area at the heart of the town. The council is working with partners to extend the range of non-food shopping, increase food shopping floorspace and create an attractive leisure offer plus an evening economy. Additional housing will be provided in the town centre and at the Northern Gateway immediately to the north. DartfordŐs Central Park is being restored to its Edwardian splendour. In 2006 the park increased in size by almost 50 acres with the purchase of adjoining land from GlaxoSmithKline and now includes childrenŐs play areas, a water play area, formal gardens and a skate park as well as the historic Acacia House. Plans are being developed for a new swimming pool and fitness centre in the town centre, plus potential new recreation facilities such as a bowling alley, cinema or ice rink.The borough is already home to awardwinning sports venues including Dartford Dojo - the Olympic standard judo centre - and the ecologically sustainable Princes Park Community Stadium, both of which opened in 2006. The Dojo is the only double-dojo in the country that meets international judo standards.The centre is a regular training centre for the British judo squad and has been a training base for international teams from Europe and America.
