hanet, on the east Kent coast, stands on the gateway to Europe; one of the districtÕs main attractions is its location comparative to London, the rest of Kent and the continent. Surrounded by some of KentÕs most beautiful coastline, the areaÕs celebrated events calendar includes Broadstairs Folk Festival and Ramsgate Yachting Week. Living costs are low with a detached house costing around 20% lower than the national average and homes in Ramsgate half the price of those in London. Just over an hourÕs drive from LondonÕs outskirts, Thanet also has excellent logistics. The high-speed rail link from London to Ramsgate is set to bring the area even closer to the capital. Kent International Airport offers passenger flights and handles around 30,000 tonnes of freight. The Port of Ramsgate operates the countryÕs cross-channel freight and the passenger ferry to Ostend in Belgium. Offshore wind farm programmes in the Thames Estuary are set to bring Ramsgate significant benefits.
