Transport | by Sea L ocated on the shores of the Firth of Forth, Edinburgh is a busy port and waterfront city. It is home to ScotlandŐs largest enclosed deepwater port at Leith, where a dedicated cruise terminal building was opened in 2006 at Leith Western Harbour. The imposing Forth Road and Rail Bridges connect Edinburgh to the north of Scotland via Fife, where the passenger and freight ferry service from Rosyth to Zeebrugge in Belgium will recommence in Spring 2009. The Forth Estuary is also the largest freight port area in Scotland, accounting for roughly a third of total Scottish freight traffic. The development of EdinburghŐs waterfront area is one of BritainŐs largest urban regeneration schemes and will fully connect Edinburgh to its coastline for the first time in its history (see page 72). www.forthports.co.uk/ports www.norfolkline.com
