dinburghÕs two mainline railway stations Ð Waverley and Haymarket Ð are vital hubs for the city, transporting thousands of commuters and visitors across Scotland and the UK every day. Edinburgh Airport, located to the west of the city, offers an invaluable business connection for the city and Scotland, bringing visitors from locations as diverse as New York and Newquay, Shannon to Sharm El Sheikh. 
London is just four and a half hours away by rail from ScotlandÕs capital, while 10 EU capital cities including the European hub airports of Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt and Paris all have direct connections with Edinburgh with new routes opening up all the time. 
Those on foot will find the city compact and walkable. The winding roads and alleyways of the Old Town lead to Edinburgh Castle. The Georgian New Town on the northern side of the castle offers squares and gardens which make the city layout easily accessible. Cyclists can enjoy over 150km of on and off-road cycle lanes in the city region while many train stations offer secure facilities for cyclists encouraging people to leave their cars at home. 
Some 80% of Lothian Buses offer low-floor access to disabled travellers or those travelling with children and luggage. All the cityÕs licensed black cabs are fully wheelchair accessible. 
An ambitious programme of transport improvements aims to keep track of the demand from business and tourism visitors while also making sure that Edinburgh has the infrastructure to maintain its position as a crucial financial driver for the Scottish economy. Of particular importance is the development of EdinburghÕs own tram system linking EdinburghÕs waterfront, city centre, west Edinburgh and the airport. Meanwhile, work to the replace the Forth Road Bridge is due to start in 2011. 
Edinburgh is also home to ScotlandÕs largest enclosed deepwater port and new cruise liner terminal. 
EdinburghÕs great national and international connections make it an ideal place to not only visit on business but to locate a business.
