Currently under construction or under planning are around 2,000 new hotel rooms, which will become available over the next two years.

BritanniaÕs Royal Deck is being brought back into use as a stunning new room for dinners and receptions to complement those currently hosted in the State Apartments. This room will enhance the range and size of events that Britannia can host on board. 

Traditionally, the Royal Deck would 
be covered with an awning and 
used by the Royal Family for cocktail parties, receptions and deck games. From winter 2008 the historic appearance of the Royal Deck will be replicated with an awning-style roof, glass walls and original teak deck.

Receptions and dinners are already held on board in the State Drawing Room and Dining Room. The Royal Deck will bring BritanniaÕs dining capacity up to 176 and receptions 
up to 380, when used with the 
State Apartments. The room will also extend the evening entertainment opportunities available, with possibilities for jazz and swing 
bands or ceilidhs.

New £5m development at the George Hotel Ð February 09
Following last yearÕs £12m refurbishment and development programme of the iconic George Hotel in the heart of Edinburgh, 
there is yet more exciting news with the construction of a brand new 
£5m building on Thistle Street. 
The new building joins seamlessly 
to the existing hotel and offers 50 
new deluxe bedrooms, a gym with luxurious treatment rooms as well 
as sauna and steam rooms. A first 
for the George is the new executive club lounge on the fifth floor of the new building with beautiful outside terraces and panoramic views 
of Edinburgh Castle.
