Economic impact of EdinburghŐs business tourism The Edinburgh Convention Bureau (ECB) helped attract business tourism worth Ł72.8m to the economy of ScotlandŐs capital city last year. The city, ScotlandŐs top conference and convention destination, hosted 162 events, which were attended by more than 65,000 high-spending delegates. The latest figures released by the ECB represent a 6.2% increase in economic value over the previous yearŐs results of Ł68.5m. Sue Stuart, chief executive of ECB, commented: ŇThese results reflect a superb effort by everyone involved in marketing Edinburgh as a world class conference destination. We operate in a highly competitive marketplace with more and more cities around the world investing in this fast-growing business sector. Edinburgh is currently undergoing a period of transition, upgrading its infrastructure and facilities while assessing how best to promote itself globally in order to maintain its position as a global destination.
