The Georgian House

A beautifully-restored Robert Adam town house containing china and silver collections, fine furniture and portraits.  Dating from 1796, the square is part of Edinburgh's World Heritage site and the head offices of the National Trust for Scotland are located at Nos 26-31 Charlotte Square.  No. 28 is also owned by NT Scotland and is a newly-expanded and refurbished coffee shop and restaurant with a Scottish bookshop and gallery upstairs.

Lauriston Castle

Originally a 1590s tower house, the castle was built for Sir Archibald Napier, and extended during the 1820s by the architect William Burn for its then owner, Thomas Allan. The tranquility of its setting, overlooking the Firth of Forth, combined with its proximity to the centre of Edinburgh, makes Lauriston typical of the large suburban villas which once provided rural amenity for the powerful and wealthy of the city.

Gladstone's Land

Completed in 1620, Gladstone's Land is a typical example of an Edinburgh Old Town tenement.  Take time to view the fine pictures, period furniture, and beautiful painted ceilings.  A 'new' adventure at Gladstone's land is the second-hand book shop. Donations are needed and all proceeds from the book sales go towards conservation projects at Gladstone's Land. All books are being sold at a standard price, 50p for softcover and £1 for hardcover - all topics!
