Universities, colleges and adult education combine in Edinburgh to offer education and training for all -whether you are in business or just starting out in your career, there are plenty of options to help you along 

Edinburgh is home to four universities - each of which has a Business School which works with local businesses to train and develop the workforce of today and tomorrow.  Local colleges offer a variety of disciplines and also provide businesses with the opportunity to invest in their staff with additional training such as the Edinburgh College of Art, Scottish Agricultural College, Stevenson College and Edinburgh's Telford College. 
Students of all ages come to Edinburgh to study - and it's not just for academic qualifications. Organisations such as ProjectScotland provide young people aged between 16-25 with full-time voluntary work placements broadening their experience, confidence and, therefore, employability. 
Springboard Scotland is another such organisation that works specifically with people who are looking for a career in the tourism business - providing information and advice on college courses and other resources to help prepare new recruits for work in the tourism business. 
The City of Edinburgh Council's 'Edinburgh Grid for Learning' website (www.egfl.net) provides a useful forum of information not only for parents in Edinburgh, but also for anyone interested in adult education and education in the community. Edinburgh is also home to The National Library of Scotland which has two public buildings - one at George IV Bridge and one at Causewayside.  As well as a wide range of electronic material, including details on 11 million companies worldwide, the Library's main business resources are located at the George IV Bridge. Now housed on the mezzanine floor of the General Reading Room, these resources include over 1,200 printed business directories and over 3,000 market research reports - the largest collection of its kind in Scotland.
