First ScotRail is investing some £40million over seven years to improve services for passengers across key areas: improving stations, facilities, service, punctuality and reliability through dedicated programmes of investment and maintenance. Passenger journeys have increased by nine per cent across the network since First ScotRail took over the franchise in 2004. A variety of ticket types is available to suit the requirements of all customers from commuters to business and leisure travellers. A Flexipass ticket, for example, offers a minimum 10%saving and is ideal for customers who travel the same route several times a week. The ticket is valid on many routes into Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness. Great North Eastern Railway (GNER)and Virgin Trains link Edinburgh and London in just over four hours.
